Make your daily life easier as a caregiver of a person or a child with an intellectual disability:
In Québec, the focus is on early identification. Contact the ID-PD-ASD access point where you live and learn more about the Québec government’s Agir tôt program. If you have concerns about your child’s development, consult a professional; early diagnosis is essential.
The Quebec Intellectual Disability Society (SQDI) rallies, informs and equips those who want to make Québec a more inclusive society, where everyone has a place and can flourish.
In particular, the SQDI offers access to information and educational tools, free training, and the means to find a local association.
The SQDI works to defend the rights of people with intellectual disabilities by promoting the sharing of expertise and the creation of solidarity networks.
Our Caregiver Support Helpline is there for all caregivers, throughout Québec. Whether you are looking for a counselling, information or referrals, our counselors are available every day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This service is free and confidential.
There is a page on our website dedicated to the telephone helplines that caregivers can use throughout Québec.
It is organized every year in March by the Quebec Intellectual Disability Society. Its objective is to “bring the general public and people with an intellectual disability closer together, to create a more inclusive society.”
